John Kane is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, editor, and shooter. His films have played at numerous festivals around the country, including Silverdocs AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival, Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, and Palm Springs Shortsfest. Left in Baghdad, a film he co-directed, was broadcast nationally on the PBS series "Independent Lens" in November, 2008. More recently, John has worked as an editor for National Geographic Channel and as a shooter for Animal Planet (Discovery Channel). He teaches film and video at the Art Institute of California at San Francisco and Academy of Art University.
John lived and worked in Mexico City for two years and speaks fluent Spanish. He holds a BA in English literature from Swarthmore College and an MFA in Documentary Film & Video from Stanford University.
